Radiology (X-rays)

In our hospital radiographs are a commonly used diagnostic tool. These photos provide needed information regarding your animal’s bones, genitointestinal tract (stomach, colon, intestinal tract), genitourinary system (prostrate and bladder) and respiratory tract (lungs). Radiography can be used in conjuction with other diagnostic measures to provide causes for your pet’s condition.

As an X-ray beam passes through a patients body, different types of tissues will absorb the radiation in varying amounts. When developed, the radiograph film will appear as many shades of grey reflecting the anatomoy of the patient. Interpretation of the radographs requires substantial skill on the part of the clinician.
