Microchip Pet Identification
Microchipping has become a very popular and safe method of permanent pet identification. Our hospital facility offers microchip pet identification. Microchipping is simple and relatively painless procedure, a small microchip (the size and shape of a grain of rice) is implanted under your pet’s skin in the neck area. The application is similar to a vaccination injection. Our physcian can microchip you pet during a routine office exam. A hand-held scanner, available at most Veterinary and Humane Societies, The long number displayed on the scanner is your pet’s identification and allows access to computer database that stores your pets information; including your name and residence address as well as the name and address of your Veterinarian. This valuable information enables owner contact when the animal is found. We advise the use of this system and collar tags as methods of identifying your pet.
