Surgical Services

We provide many surgical services at Niagara Veterinary Services. Each week day a surgery can be performed by our Veterinarian. Each surgery is completed with skill and confidence by our clinician. However, occasions do arise where a more advanced procedure may be required to assist your pet. When advanced surgical procedures are needed, an appointment is made with a Veterinary Referral Surgeon. Modern advancements in anesthesia and pain control allow surgery to become much safer. Pre-surgical blood testing is a recommendation we offer prior to surgery to help evaluate any potential problems with the health of your pet. If your pet is coming in for surgery we have the following recommendations for our clientel: Your furry companion should be fasted the morning of scheduled surgery. Your pet should have free access to fresh water available. When your pet returns home after surgery prevent excessive physical activity and licking of the incision site. If your pet goes home the day of surgery limit his or her food consumption for the night. If you have any concerns about your animal's behaviour or if they are not eating and remain lethargic do not hesitate to call us. Be alert for any irritation or discharge from the surgical incision site.
